"Castle Rock" is about the book "Lord of the Flies" by Golding. The orange rock reflects a false ideology, grounded in power and violence. It is weak with holes in its structure and is crumbling in upon itself. A fire is raging towards a white flag of peace representing civil society. The flag waves in the wind for help as all seems hopeless from a world corrupted by power, violence, and greed.
About Myra Maslowsky
Myra Maslowsky is a visual artist who has specialized in oil painting for over 40 years. In addition to having her art work in private collections, she has exhibited at various galleries in the Washington, D.C. and Pittsburgh area. Her work was displayed at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in the Art Anonymous Exhibit for emerging artists. Her design for the Party Animal Project was accepted by the D.C. Arts and Humanities Commission, and chosen by the National Air and Space Museum to be displayed on their grounds at the National Mall. For several years, she has been a curator and exhibitor for Summit Connection at various International Embassy Exhibits in Washington, D.C.
